Energy Survey – Typically is a visual inspection of a home and lacks in depth analysis and testing.

America’s Comprehensive Home Energy Audits, (ACHEA) – Typically is a combination of a survey, inspection, testing and in-depth analysis of energy flows in a home or building.

It is conducted specifically to expose opportunities to reduce the amount of energy input into the system without negatively affecting the output(s). If the object of study is a home presently occupied then reducing energy consumption while maintaining and improving human comfort, health and safety are of primary concern. An energy audit must prioritize the energy uses accordingly from the greatest to least cost effective opportunities for energy savings.
